Abstract

Measurements were carried out on the Saras engine and propeller operating at full torque on the test bench setup of C-CADD. Near field measurements were carried out from 0deg to 110 degs in the forward quadrant. The data show the expected trends and noise spectra associated with the Blade Passing Frequency. This exercise has shown the OASPLs reach a high of about 123 dB in the near field of the Saras propeller without forward motion. Further studies are needed to ascertain the sound field in the far-field with the additive effect of geometry of fuselage and the stabilizer.
