Abstract

Damaged components from an accidented helicopter were sent to the laboratory for metallurgical examination. Investigation revealed that all the components failed by overload. The tail rotor cables have failed under tensile overload. Pitch change link, pulley assembly and the tail rotor control rod were found damaged/fractured due to impact.
