Abstract

In the engine test beds the effect of inlet ditortion on the engine performance is studied by placing a specially designed screens at the engine inlet plane. This paper describes the design, testing and evaluation of two different types of such screens manufactured using different techniques. Laser cut screen showed certain advantages over the conventionally manufactured composite screen with respect to aerodynamic parameter and mechanical strength.. The novel technique of design and fabrication of laser cut screens overcomes all hurdles associated with conventional method using composite screen with wire mesh
