A descaling bath removing scales from components of diesel engines comprising an aqueous solution containing (i) amino carboxylic acid 2-15%by wt (ii) alkali metal saltsof aliphatic dihydroxy mono and di carboxylic acid 2 -15% by wt. (iii) alkali metal saltsof hydroxy tri basic acid 1-15% by wt. (iv) and a surfactant 0.01 to 0.5 % by wt.
