In this paper, the problem of parameter estimation of highly unstable system is addressed. A technique of transformation of input/output data of a linear continuous time unstable system is presented. The transformation parameter selection is based on the real part of the largest unstable eigenvalue of the system. The numerical divergence problem associated with the identification of unstable systems is thus greatly alleviated. Results of numerical validation using simulated data are presented to support the claim.
