The Digital Flight Data Recorder (DFDR) readout facility developed to read and analyze the raw digital from Lockheed Model 209F DFDR and other recorders is described. Three system configurations are considered: the first makes use of, as front end, the Lockheed FRIAR unit and a PDP-11 computer; the second uses direct memory access mode13; to directly transfer the raw data from the DFDR to the PDP-11; and the third unit is a stand-alone IBM compatible personal computer based DFDR readout system. Software was developed for channel selection, conversion to engineering units, time search, and graphic presentation.
