Abstract

The crystalliation behaviour of CdAs2 glass examined by differential scanning calorimetry and X-ray diffraction is reported and discussed. CdAs2 glass was found to undergo a primary crystallisation followed by a polymorphic transformation. In the primary transformation, microcrystallites of Cd3As2 are crystallised in an amorphous matrix. In the second polymorphic transformation, CdAs2 is crystallised. The activation energies of the two stages are found to be 3.71 and 5.17 eV, respectively.
