Abstract
The hourly wind speeds at Amritsar have been analysed13; from the point of view of, wind power utilization. Frequencies of different wind speeds and cumulative frequencies were computed determine the energy extract able from the wind by a 'machine with an overall power coefficient of 12 percent and 30 sq.m. swept area. The annual energy works out to 984 kh. The quantity of water that can be pumped on each day of a typical year was computed; the annual quantity works out to 31,000 kilolitres (68,3),000 gallons) of water pumped by a windmill of overall power coefficient of 12 percent and swept area oi 23.6 sq.m.
