Abstract
The focusing condition in a powder diffractometer has13; been examined by considering the variance due to geometrical13; factors of diffraction line profile as a function of R, the13; distance of the receiving slit from the diffractometer axis.13; The value of corresponding to minimum variance is taken as13; the point of focus. The method has been exemplified in the13; case of a flat sample and diffractometer geometry used in13; stress measurement(which is similar to the Seemann-Bohlin13; geometry).
