Abstract
Maslen's solution for the inviscid flow past blunt bodies at13; hypersonic speeds was investigated for the presence of singularity, if any, in the sonic region, both for equilibrium as well as non equilibrium flows. The shock stand-off distance was calculated by the above method and compared with the results available by other methods. The calculated value compared favourably with those by other methods. Also, an attempt was made to determine the shape of the shock wave for a given distribution of entropy behind the shock wave.
