Abstract
This document details the motivation end the methodology involved in the design and development of the 1.2m square test Section open circuit tunnel at the Systems Engineering Division of the Nationa1 Aeronautica1 Laboratory, India during the early eight i 88. This tunnel ie an open circuit fixed test section velocity of 45 m/sec in the square test section of the tunnel having en eree of 1.5 sq m. the intended use of this tunnel is to provide a low speed aerodynamic test facility in e control laboratory environment, to be able to undertake active control investigations on appropriately scaled models. This paper describes the detailed design of the tunnel, fabrication procedures, civil works involved, commissioning end the performance evaluation and describes briefly e typical active control investigation undertaken on the tunnel.
