Abstract
A turbo power-packis an important unit of a solar 'thermo-13; dynamic wwcr system for the convarsion of solar energy in to shaft pawer. The present paper deals with the selection design features and performance evaluation of a lowpower turbopack unit working on a low-temperature Rankine cycle uslng acetone. A simple, low-cost design of a partial admission impulse turbine witn a spring-loaded graphite seal is outlined. Tnis unit has been commissioned recently along with its entire Rankine loop. The psrformance of this unit as a drive for a centrifuga1 water pump has bean evaluated on the basis of experimmtal results obtained hitharto.
