Abstract
The frequency equation of a uniform beam, encastre'13; at one end and having a heavy tip mass at the other end is13; derived to consider the relative importance of translational and rotary inertia effects in decreasing the beam's natural frequencies. The root evaluation procedure is implemented on DCM Micro-computer. From the results obtained it i s proved here that (a) the second order terms have more pronounced effect on frequencies of rigidly clamped beams with a tip mass than for beams with flexible end: (b) the rotary inertia of a concentrated mass is more important than shear effect for a beam with heavy tip mass.
