Abstract
A computer program, GENFILM, is used to compute the film13; cooling effectiveness for 2-D tangential injection of a gaseous coolant for a range of slot-to-mainstream velocity and density ratios. Computations are made for cases pertaining to Several available data with a view to assess the turbulence models in-corporated in the program. The results indicate that, in general the predictions using thequot;enhancement and bridgingquot;procedure for both eddy viscosity and diffusivity agree well with the Experiments for thin slot lips. However, discrepancies are observed for thicker slot lips. The turbulence model with bridging and enhancement of diffusivity profile alone instead13; of 'bridging and enhancement for both the eddy viscosity and diffusivity profiles is seen to give more reasonable prediction for both thick as well as thin slotlips over a wide range of velocity ratios, slot heights and distance downstream of the slot. The deviations are generally within 15% of effectiveness with and for the latter procedure.
