The free vibration of a statically loaded doubly symmetric thin-walled isotropic homogeneous beam with different end conditions is investigated analytically. The formulation of the governing equations is outlined, and numerical results for uncoupled flexural and coupled flexural-torsional vibration are presented in extensive tables and graphs and discussed in detail. The approximate values obtained are shown to be within 3 percent of the exact solutions, and it is demonstrated that the present solutions reduce to those for a beam-column when the moment is absent.
