Abstract
The residual stress in aluminum alloy sheets in laminates consisting of alternate layers of aluminum alloy sheets and unidirectional aramid fibers-epoxy composite has been measured both by x-ray diffraction and layer removal methods. The stresses in fiber direction in AI-alloy sheet as measured on different specimens are tensile and vary between 33 MPa and 1 8 MPa. In the transverse direction the stresses are compressive and vary between 23 to 2 MPa.
