A numerical procedure for two-dimensional incompressible fully developed turbulent boundary layers over rigid and deformable surfaces is used to investigate the effects of a certain class of simulated periodic surfaces, e.g., sinusoidal, triangular and rectangular shapes. The computation involves solution of a boundary layer equation coupled with a system of Orr- Sommerfeld type of equations describing the deviation of the flow field from the time mean flow and which feeds back wave induced stresses to the calculation of boundary layer flow. The disturbance flow is solved in a wave following coordinate system and results of the coupled iterated solutions indicate the possibility of existence of strong interaction between the time mean and disturbance and a resultant drag benefit.
