Abstract
This report offers answer to the question 'What are the 213; simply supported boundary conditions when using Mindlin or13; isoparamctric plate bending elements?'. The answer given in this report is based on the investigations carried out by the authors in their earlier numerical experiments using a field-consistent QUAD4 plate/shell element. It is concluded that the SS2 or the 'hard' boundary condition is the appropriate condition when Mindlin or isoparametric plate bending elements are used to analyse very thin plates.
