Abstract

A store drag optimization programme was carried out in the 4-ft tunnel of NAL on a fighter aircraft model with a view to optimining the zero lift drag of a given set of external store. the optimization studies were carried out at a much number of 0.9. fter arriving at the minimum drag configuration it was taken through an incidence of-2 degree to 8 degree and a much number range of 0.7 to 1.0. Results have shown that the relatively small else store (war load) looated under the fuselege belly have the lowest drag and negligible change in the longitudinal stability of the perent aircraft; in the entire test range of the much number and incidence. the rsduction in the overall zero lift drag, compared to that of a conventional carriage position under the wing, is as much as 16%.
