Abstract
A simple exposure meter with digital readout is very easy13; to build and can be used effectively to assess the intensity of illumination on a photographic or holographic plate. Such an assessment made prior to the exposure of the holographic plate can save many an under or over exposed plate and the associated headache. The digital exposure meter described here has been designed and built for use in holographic experiments using He-Ne laser with the specific idea of prev.enting wastage of holographic plates due to exposure other than at optimum intensities. The instrwnent has an optical detector head which can be moved in the space normally occupied by the iliate, pointing in the direction of the laser-either the reference beam or the beam reflected by the object whose hologram is required.
