Abstract

Poly(ethylene terepthalate) (PET) fibres with a wide range13; of structure and morphology were prepared by annealing13; commercial PET yart in silicone oil bath. The studies on13; structure and morphology of the annealed samples revealed13; considerable difference between taut-annealed (TA) and freeannealed (FA) samples. Mechanical properties of these samples were also investigated and correlated with structure and morphology. FTIR studies showed that deformation mechanisms depended on structure and morphology. The results indicated that single structural model was not adequate to explain the properties exhibited by these samples.
