Abstract
Glasses of the Cd-Ge-As system are of importance because of their switching properties. Several glasses of this system were synthesised and characterised with respect to several properties.In this document the results of the measurement of glass transition temperature (T), crystallisation temperature g(T) and density are surnrnarisedfor eleven glass compositions c13; of the Cd-Ge-As system.Two distinct regions are seen in the composition dependence of T and T for the CdAs2-Ge glasses. The change over from g c one linear portion to the other takes place at the composition Cd28.57Ge14.28AS57.14' which has equal mole fractions of CdAS2and CdGeAs2' In the composition dependence of T , T and density g c of Cd2Ge-As glasses also, special features are seen at this composition. An attempt has been made to analyse these results based on the formation in the glasses of CdAs2 and CdGeAS2 networks with excess Cd and As.
