Abstract
The objective of softening the raw water from the borewell which is not suitable for direct use In the. cooling water system of the compressor-dryer I system is to prevent scale formation and corrosion inside the cooler tubes. This technical report deals with the quality of natural water, its chemical treatment and testing method. Natural waters are usually classified in different ways depending upon (a) the sources (b) the amount of dissolved impurities (c) the behaviour towards soap (soft or hard) (d) whether it is potable or non potable.
