Abstract
This document describes fatigue crack growth behaviour in Lital-A 8090 plate and sheet material under constant amplitude as well as spectrum loading. Effect of rolling direction, thickness, stress ratio, spectrum load truncation and omission level on crack growth were studied. Lital-A 8090-T851 plate material has significant anisotropy in crack growth behaviour under spectrum loading. No significant effect of plate thickness on crack growth was observed. Crack closure was shown to explain stress ratio effect. Higher truncation level lead to reduced growth rate at a given reference stress intensity. Crack closure level in spectrum load test was higher compared to constant amplitude closure level.
