Abstract
Several 1-D, 2-D and 3-D (linear and quadratic) C degree continuous finite elements were developed for applications to constrained media linear elasticity problems. An exhaustive literature survey on the related topics was conducted [1]. Several issues involved in analysing the popular problems of locking and stress oscillations with reference to these elements are discussed in detail in References 2 and 3. A comprehensive review is presented in Reference 4. Each element is made field-consistent so that it is free of locking and stress oscillations and coded on a stand alone basis.
