Abstract

A detailed formulation of implicit step for the solution of13; 2D/axisymmetric compressible thin-layer Navier-Stokes equations is presented .This step is based on backward Euler time inte ration and employs first order accurate upwind scheme with flux-vector splittin due to van Leer13; for discretization of space derivatives of the Euler terms, while the viscous terms are central differenced as usual . This results in a penta-diaonal implicit step operator which is dia onally dominant . Coupled with a second order accurate upwind TVD formulation of the explicit step, which is already available, this implicit operator can be inverted efficiently usin line13; Gauss-Seidel procedure .
