Abstract
Modern day establishments, be they in the Ramp;D sector, public limited concern or a private setup, lay great emphasis on their filing13; system to keep track of the various papers and files that move in and out of any13; office. Modern day office management greatly depends on such an efficient filing13; system. Unless the filing system is properly classified and categorized, it is13; virtually impossible to retrieve any piece of information. An efficient filing is the13; sine quanon of a smooth functioning office. It has been rightly said that quot;anybody can file;but the retrieving takes a little doingquot; An attempt has been made in this document to keep track of the filing system in the Director's13; Office with the help of the modern day office automation tool - the personal13; computer, thereby assisting the staff to retrieve information almost instantaneously13; with no prior knowledge of the filing system. Database software packages, like dBASEIII Plus on the DOS platform have had a tremendous13; impact on information processing and retrieval.
