Abstract
Current trends in Indian aviation point to a pressing flood to turn to more sophisticated techniques in tracking aircraft utilization from tho viewpoint of scheduling major inspections/overhaul and retirement for cause.13; USAF MilSpecs on Aircraft Structural Integrity Program (ASIP) call for Individual Airframe Tracking (IAT) to support maintenance based on condition rnonitoring..(AT can also be implemented on aircraft types that were not originally designed to meet ASIP requirements.13; This paper describes ASIP and IAT and attempts to explain why they should be seriously considered by Indian operators of moderate to large aircraft fleets. The effort involved while not being inconsiderable can operation of ageing floats.
