Abstract
Aircraft like nuclear power plants are extremely safety critical. Aircraft development programmes have evolved over many decades and the standards governing their evolution are reasonably well established. This paper attempts to describe ASIP and ENSIP standards for, airframes and aeroengines and how their background may interest specialists in the design, development and operation of nuclear power plant facilities including the management of ageing plants. The accent of ENSIP is on inspectability and fail-safety to enable maintenance on condition.
