Unsteady flow over an aerofoil undergoing flapping motion has been carried out numerically in order to assess the effect of aerofoil thickness and camber on the aerodynamic performance using an in-house developed implicit Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes solver IMPRANS. The solver is based on a finite volume nodal point spatial discretization scheme for compressible viscous flows with dual time stepping. The algebraic eddy viscosity model due to Baldwin and Lomax is used for the turbulence closure. The results are obtained in the form of aerodynamic coefficients, thrust coefficient and propulsion efficiency.
