Abstract

A "Semi-Captive Trajectory Technique" for wind tunnel simulation of separation characteristics of external stores released from a parent aircraft is explained in detail. A sample data for a store released at M=0.9 is presented. In this particular case the separation trajectory obtained is seen to be smooth, Extension of this wind tunnel technique to determine trajectories of separating boosters of launch vehicles is also highlighted.
