Abstract
The properties of the resin system used as matrix for composites are important sin& the mechanical strength and fabrication processes of the components depend on these prdpenies. Hence it was considered essential to monitor the properties of the resins during their storage for a long period of time. A number of resin batches were earlier received in mid 1994 for use in HANSA - 3 component fabrication. Subsiquently a new batch of LY 5052 resin and the corresponding HY 5052 hardener were obtained through HAL, as a replacement stock in Feb 96 which had to be used to complete the fabrication of HANSA-3 components after the properties were monitored. As per the HANSA -3 cornittee advice a comparative evaluation of those two batches (old & new) of resins was made.
