Abstract
An Integrated Enhanced and Synthetic Vision System (IESVS) which is a combination of Synthetic Vision System (SVS) and Enhanced Vision System (EVS) is being designed to be a part of National Civil Aircraft (NCA) avionics display to provide better situation awareness to the pilot in poor visibility conditions. The SVS should have the capability of providing accurate terrain information with high levels of integrity to meet the intended functions. This project document presents a methodology for online terrain integrity monitoring based on synthesized terrain elevation data using sensors onboard the aircraft. Two techniques, one based on Down Ward Looking sensor (DWL) and the other based on Forward Looking sensors (Weather Radar (WxR)) are presented. The techniques are evaluated using simulated data. Results of integrating the DWL sensor based method to the Flightgear simulator and actual flight test data of a high performance aircraft are also presented.
