    Abstract

    This report presents the details of the preliminary triats invdving the design, fabrication and testing of SMA embedded glass fiber reinforced composite (GFRP) beams. SMA wires are embedded along the longitudinal axis in the mid plane of the GERP beam. The various problems such as overheating of resin, de-bonding between SMA and composite beam, twisting of beam due to local yielding and other related issues that were encountered during the course of these trials are discussed.
