Abstract

Examination revealed that the failure in the blades BUMA 19, EWWD 13 and EYEK 21 was due to localized contact on the flank of the fir tree with dovetail of the fixture. Analysis suggests that the localized contact was resulted either due to non-uniform clamping of the fixture or failure of the clamping mechanism. The blade AACKH 15 has failed by fatigue at the root region. The failure of the blade THRH 13 in the airfoil region is as expected. A detailed analysis of the failures is presented in this report.
