Abstract

Damaged components from an accidented aircraft were sent to the laboratory for analysis. Examination of the components indicated that the material of the main fuel and the after burner pump quill shafts, and the corresponding gears have satisfactory microstructure. The chemical composition of the material of construction conformed to the specification. The damages seen on the referred components appear to be secondary in nature and subsequent to the primary failure.
