Abstract

Examination showed presence of punctured holes of varying sizes in all the components received for investigation. The damage features around the holes indicate that projectiles emanating from a bomb explosion in the vicinity of the aircraft hit the components. Evidences also suggest that the bomb had drifted to the left of the aircraft after release from the pylon and got exploded at the port side of the aircraft. From the projectile directions, the most probable location of the bomb explosion appears to be in between the port ventral fin of Engine Bay Door (EBD) and the port tail plane at a distance of 7 ft in the port side and 12 ft down with respect to the aircraft axis. A detailed analysis is presented in this report.
