Scanning electron microscopic examination did not reveal cracks in any of the stator blades. However, there were minor surface irregularities on the airfoil surfaces in the form of dislodgement of material due to solid particle impingement and deposition of foreign material rich in silicon and oxygen. It appears that these surface irregularities showed defect like indications during FPI.
