Abstract

Both the fuel pipelines of an aeroengine have failed in similar fashion at identical location. Fractographic analysis showed that the pipelines have failed by fatigue. It appears most probable that the assembly stresses were responsible for the fatigue crack initiation and subsequent fracturing. A detailed analysis is presented in this report.
