Abstract

Failed Nadella pins of MDS and FW assembly of helicopter were analyzed. Fractographic study showed that both the pins had fractured under overload. There were no evidences of progressive failure such as fatigue. No metallurgical abnormalities were responsible for failure and the material of the pins conform to BS S135 specification.
