Abstract

Analysis showed that the combustor liner side plates have failed due to overheating and subsequent burning. It appears most probable that inadequate cooling of the plate led to this failure. Redesigning of the cooling jacket in view of the high heat flux resulting from higher gas temperature is recommended.
