Abstract

A fractured lever assembly of an aircraft was analyzed. Fractographic analysis showed that the assembly has failed by overload. Microstructural study and compositional analysis revealed that the lever assembly was made of cast Al-Mg-Fe alloy. The reason(s) for overload needs to be established.
