Abstract

A fractured vent line tube was sent to the laboratory for analysis. The failure of the tube was by thin lip rupture caused due to rapid overheating. Compositional analysis indicated that the failed tube is made of plain carbon steel and does not conform to specification of 2.5Cr-1.0Mo steel.
