Two fractured HPTR blades belonging to an aeroengine were sent to the laboratory for investigation. The tip of the blades was damaged due to exposure to high temperature. Microstructural study suggests that the minimum temperature was in the vicinity of 1650 K. The coating was found peeled off in the affected regions due to temperature effects. There was no abnormality in the coating.
