    Abstract

Modern technologies have capabilities to provide extensive volumes of data for analysis and display. Systems are becoming increasingly complex and difficult to handle. High levels of automation without proper human-machine interface have lead to catastrophic accidents. This necessitates the need for proper human engineering approaches to be followed for any new display or interfaces designs. This document gives the survey of work done around the globe for better flight deck designs, techniques for workload assessment, techniques for human error identification and the possible approaches.
