Sujata, M and Madan, M and Bhuvana, R (2011) Examination of a damaged printed circuit board. Project Report. National Aerospace Laboratories, Bangalore, India.Full text not available from this repository.
A damaged printed circuit (PC) board belonging to an electronic system installed at Cochin International Airport was examined. Examination revealed damages at five localized locations on the PC board. All these damages were found to have been caused due to heat effects. From the nature of damages, it appears most probable that there was over-current in the circuit leading to over-heating in some of the electronic components. There were no evidences of mechanical damages anywhere on the PC board. It is suggested that the possibilities which could lead to over-current in the PC board circuit be examined for identification of the primary reason for failure.
