Abstract

A fractured torsion link of nose strut of an aircraft was brought to the laboratory by Sqn Ldr Rahul Agarwal for analysis. Visual and stereo-binocular observations of the fracture surface revealed that the torsion link has failed by overload. Examination also revealed that the torsion link has experienced a bending load resulting in bending and fracturing of the torsion link.
