Abstract
A two day's AICTE sponsored Staff Development Programme on Wind Energy was organized at Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Gujarat. Session 1 gave a brief overview of Wind Energy and brought out the importance of wind energy as a promising Renewable source of energy. The first step in harnessing wind energy is Wind Resource Assessment. Understanding of wind and its characteristics was presented. A brief description of Wind Resource Assessment and a generalized methodology is also explained.
