Abstract
NAL's mandate, speit out in 1960, was the "scientific investigation of the problems of flight with a view to the practical application of the results to the design, construction and safe operation of aircraft" A “confidential” document contained P Nilakantan’s vision of NAL. NAL’s first Director always kept this document locked in his personal custody.
