Abstract

A study has been carried out to evaluate and optimise the performance of small gas turbine engines in respect of the different configurations. This report is the consolidation of results obtained in the course of sucha study.Gas turbines applied to jet engines and propeller drive have been looked at.In each of these categories,it is concluded that two different configurations would be suitable depending on the thrust or power rating of the engine.Performance paramters such as specific fuel consumption specific thrust and specific power are bought to be maximised. All along technology levels available are considered and practically reliable efficiency and fabrication levels taken into consideration. With an earnest hope that this study would lead to the undertaking of a hardware oriented project to be followed.Estimation of development cost for one engine for demonstration purposes are also included.
